LONG BOX FOAM BLOCK INSERT FOR SEGA SATURN/CD/PS1 -CHOOSE THICKNESS AND QUANTITY

This listing is for a NEW foam block insert for a Sega Saturn long-box game case. Please be sure to read this entire description, it is important that you understand all of the characteristics of these blocks, and to be sure that you find the right thickness block for your games! Step 1. Choose your foam block thickness. Choose from Thin, Mid and Thick. (PLEASE read below about choosing your thickness!) Step 2. Choose your quantity from 1 block to 100 blocks but if you need a specific quantity that is not listed please just let me know! The more you buy, the cheaper they get! Step 3. Here is an explanation of which thickness MAY fit the cases that you have. Please ask questions before buying, I am happy to assist you! THICK BLOCKS (1/2 INCH): -Long-box games with ONE disc and instructions manuals that are not too thick.-This block should fit the MAJORITY of Sega CD, Sega Saturn and PlayStation 1 long-box games that come in the standard plastic case.-These thick blocks are the same thickness as the MAJORITY of the originals from the 1990’s MID BLOCKS (3/8 INCH): -Long-box games that have cardboard boxes and ONE disc. -Long-box games with ONE disc and thick instructions manuals, I’ve seen some RPG games that are like this. -Mid thickness blocks were never offered in the original game cases, but in some applications they actually fit better than the thick blocks! -Some collectors prefer the mid thickness blocks in games which the thick blocks would normally be used because the mid thickness block is a little looser in the case and does not put pressure on the game disc. THIN BLOCKS (1/4 INCH): -Long-box games that have cardboard boxes and TWO discs. -Long-box games with multiple game discs… “D”, “Enemy Zero” and “Panzer Dragoon Saga” come to mind. These new blocks are identical to the originals but they are a bold gray color and are not faded like what you are used to seeing. These are NOT original foam blocks from the 1990’s Sega or PlayStation games, these are replicas that were professionally cut with a $100,000 laser/water-jet machine. I added three photos to this listing which compare an old thick block to a new thick block. The new block is shown in the fourth photo on top, the fifth photo on the left and in the sixth photo on top. The new block is a bold gray color while the old block is a faded gray color. The water-jet cutter cuts the foam with pressurized water, the pressurized water comes out in a slight ‘V” shape and will tend to cut the foam at a slight angle. So your blocks may not all have an exact 90-degree edge. Measurements of these foam blocks are 4-3/4″ long by 2-1/2″ wide. Width and height measurements are always within 1/8″ of these measurements, please don’t expect all blocks to be exactly the same. They are cut from a huge sheet so there is always room for error since the “V” shape cut takes up varying amounts of the material. NOTE ABOUT THE THICK 1/2″ BLOCKS: At first, if the THICK 1/2″ blocks seem to be a bit too thick, please go ahead and continue use them, give it some time and the block will “learn” the shape of the disc tray and the center tabs of the tray which hold the disc in place. The tray and disc tabs are not even surfaces, (they protrude by about 1/16 of an inch from the disc) but once the foam “learns” the surface, it will conform and will fit perfectly! This learning process is what gets the foam to cradle the disc perfectly in the case. It also allows for the pressure needed to hold the instructions manual flat. So if you are adding a foam block to a game that has not had a foam block in a while, the instructions manual has sagged (about 1/8 of an inch) and will give you the false idea that the block does not fit. Allowing the learning period as explained above, will help the manual to flatten itself back into place as well. So the foam block has a dual purpose of holding the disc in place and keeping the manual from sagging. Please feel free to ask me about this (before making a purchase) if you are unsure what this all means. NOTE ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE BLOCKS: I have these blocks made to the same exact size of the original Sega/PS1 blocks(please see photo for comparison of original to my block). You can also see in the second and third photos that the opening in the game’s tray is slightly larger than these blocks. Sega and Sony intended their blocks to be smaller than the opening. So since my blocks are same size as the original blocks, you will find that my blocks are also smaller than the opening in the game’s tray. They are done the same way that Sega and Sony did it! I have been using these blocks in my own games since March of 2015 without any issues, which means that they are archival-safe for at least that long.
